Robert Mussey Associates was founded in 1989 with a mission to provide the highest level of conservation practice to clients who otherwise would not have access to museum-quality services.
Our staff have broad training in furniture conservation. This includes traditional cabinetry at the North Bennet Street School and graduate training at Winterthur Art Conservation
Program and through the Smithsonian's Conservation Analytical Laboratory program in furniture conservation.
We provide a comprehensive range of services to preserve antique and collectible American and European furniture and architectural woodwork interiors. We will work to
understand your unique needs and expectations and to help you understand what is possible for your objects.
Our approach is defined by the ethical guidelines for standards and practices of the American Institute for Conservation.
• We seek to abide by the original artistic intent and history of an object.
• We preserve original material whenever possible.
• We employ the most effective treatments that will not limit future investigations or repairs.
• We provide documentation of our treatments for your records.
